Unfortunately this project was not successful.

My aim is to raise funds, awareness and support for the failings happening in maternity departments. Helping parents understand the trauma

My story starts with the day my beautiful boy was born and the fight that led to me starting this project. The day my child was born should have been the happiest day of my life -instead it was filled with horror trauma and guilt. To this day, I'm still fighting for the needs of my little boy who should have been given the life that he deserved. We did everything right but not everybody did that day.

I now have a 7 year old boy who is the most amazing child ,who can do so many things that we are so proud of, but will always be at the back of the line when it comes to what he truly deserves. To give my child the freedom to be able to speak without worry or frustration or the confidence to take on a challenge without being concerned or worried that he can't fulfil it. To give him the confidence to put himself forward in any experience without the support or need of his mum or dad helping him along the way. I really want this journey to be about not how my boy cannot do things but how we are experience the most amazing things about him despite all of the things that he cannot do.

I will never forget the day he was diagnosed with his learning and development disorder and the day in which we realised it could have been avoided. Every day, we watch him next to his sister and try not to compare but it is impossible. You will always want to do the very best for your child and knowing what that is can be confusing when that child has needs.

What happens now...

I know I need to start to make a difference. I want to share his story and connect with others to ensure we can find a way forward as a group and as a community to make each other’s lives a little bit easier through comfort and support. To ensure I can give my child the best, I am writing a book and documenting just how we got to the point we have. I am hoping to spread awareness and use social media, news, radio and TV as an effective way of doing that. Building a community and non-profit group/charity is my final aim and legacy goal. To use Joshua's story as a way of guiding, supporting and aiding others to move through the injustice of a negligent health system is without a doubt the most monumental thing I have ever set out to do, but to be given the opportunity, funds and freedom to take my voice far in order to help others has to be where I am right now. I am so passionate and motivated to take this challenge on and make a difference.

Why I need your help...

Writing a book takes time, research, due diligence, support and professional advice. I would like to fund this through a grant or loan. This is very tricky to achieve so any help from crowdfunding will be extremely beneficial. This will enable me to have a small salary for one year to ensure I can fully commit to the book.

Sharing this story with Radio, TV and media will also cost money and time but to be able to travel and gain access to all the appropriate sources will help with the campaign/charity and book hugely.

Having the correct equipment and resources to to write, document and share is another cost I am requiring support with.

I would also like to recognise and track down the people who made a difference in Joshua's life. To be able to establish a way of showing appreciation for all they have done to help him succeed.

Finally, ensuring I can travel and spend time meeting people and hearing their experiences is a priority and to be able to do this without the worry of travel costs would be the icing on the cake!
