To help Camberley Cricket Club through the current Covid-19 crisis.
by Neil Piper in Camberley, England, United Kingdom
As part of our ongoing Covid-19 fundraising, Des Jenkins a club member and junior parent has volunteered to walk the length of the "Basingstoke Canal" to help the club raise needed funds.
His message is: "The financial impact on Camberley Cricket club due to the Corona Virus will be felt within the club this year. The responsibility for the club is currently ours to maintain. To help with the loss of income from the bar, all forms of cricket and the function room I am hoping to raise some funds by walking the length of the Basingstoke canal, all 51.5 km of it in a day. If you able to sponsor any amount to help keep the club in good order then please donate to this crowd funding page.
I will be doing it on the 26th June, starting in the early hours at Greywell Village and finishing a few hours and blisters later in New Haw. Anyone is welcome to come walk with me for as much of the journey as you like. It may be a long day. Thank you so much for supporting the club. Des Jenkins"
