We are a small privately run seal pup hospital in the north of Scotland. We are the only hospital in Caithness & Sutherland.
We rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and abandoned common and grey seal pups. The hospital is run by volunteers and costs to run the hospital are covered by the generous donations we get from the public. Our main cost being fish and vets fees.
We officially opened the hospital doors in November 2022. We have rescued 40 seal pups and released 35 back into the wild. At present we have eleven common seal pups in that are all doing well. Hopefully all eleven will be released once they reach release weight and are hunting fish for themselves in our big pool.
We have had improvements made to the hospital this year which we got through funding from various organisations. This improvements made the hospital more spacious, easier to work in, more hygienic, and a better more comfortable resting place for the seal pups.
We are hoping to raise money through Crowd Funding so we can build our quarantine building which will house three seal pups if neccessary. We are also going to be installing another large swimming pool. Both projects are desperately needed. And both projects need to be completed by the end of October this year. The amount we are looking to raise is about £7000.00.
