Here at Caithness Seal Rehab & Release we rescue sick, injured and abandoned grey and common seal pups from along our coastline. We cover a vast area, including the North West coastline of Scotland, the Isle of Lewis, Isle of Harris, Isle of Skye, North & South Uist, the whole North coast of Scotland and down the East Coast as far as Inverness.
We are a not-for-profit charity run by volunteers and all costs for running the hospital are covered by donations from members of the public, supporters, followers and funding institutes.
We have rescued, rehabilitated and released 80 seal pups since 2022, which is when we admitted our first pup. We have a great success rate in rehabilitating seal pups, a 91% success rate.
We are looking to purchase an Oxygen Concentrator for hospital use. An oxygen concentrator utilize filters to remove impurities from the air, including bacteria. This is a key part of delivering clean, oxygen rich air to the pups. This will aid the recovery of a seal pup that has come in with respiratory infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, low blood oxygen levels and conditions that may affect the muscles and nerves that control breathing.
We hope you can help us in raising this money so we can improve treatment regimes for our very sick and injured seal pups. Thank you.
