Cabinet Rescue: Garden Workshop for Upcycling & Endometriosis Awareness
Hi, I’m Mike Charles, after 20 years in the emergency services, I turned to furniture upcycling and paint spraying as a way to de-stress, learn a new hobbie and start a small part time business. In 2023, I started to learn my wife's family’s three-generation paint-spraying skills and in 2024, I launched my own paint spraying and furniture up-cycling company - Cabinet Rescue, restoring furniture and painting kitchen cabinets for friends and family.
I’ve been fortunate to be involved in many projects and built an online following watching my furniture and kitchen transformations, which I currently do in my back garden—weather permitting!, My recent 60-minute Frenchic vintage desk makeover on TikTok was a huge hit, and I’d love to create more content like this. However, as a small part-time business owner, my growth is limited due to a lack of workshop area and a dedicated spray booth.
**How the £4,000 Will Be Used:**
✅ **£3,000 for a 12x8ft insulated workshop shed**, including:
- Shed base for the garden
- Solar-powered interior lighting kit for sustainability
- Professional installation
- Interior shelving & rubber flooring for workspace setup
✅ £1,000 for essential spray equipment, including:
- Spray booth tent to fit within the workshop
- Air compressor
- HVLP spray gun for fine finishes & Lacquering
- Spray booth fan for proper ventilation.
This space will allow me to:
- Rescue and transform furniture sustainably
- Film more upcycling projects & share tips with my growing audience
- Campaign for endometriosis & women’s health awareness 10% of annual profits will go to endometriosis research as my wife undergoes intensive surgery for Stage 4 Endometriosis this year 💛
