Our "Building Futures, Tackling Hardship" project will help us help others with financial hardship and homelessness to social inclusion.

Help us change lives in our community – support our Crowdfunder!

At Grandads Front Room, we see first-hand the struggles faced by people in our community. Every day, individuals and families come to us in crisis – whether they’re facing homelessness, financial hardship, or social isolation.

We provide essential household items, emergency support, and a welcoming space for those who need it most. But we can’t do it alone.

💙 We need your help! 💙

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us keep doing what we do best – lifting people up when they need it most.

Grandads Front Room volunteers tackle some of our community's most pressing challenges, from tackling financial hardship and homelessness to promoting sustainability and social inclusion.

Our volunteers provide practical support and essential resources to help people become more financially independent and resilient, e.g.:

Providing essential household items – By distributing furniture, white goods, and home essentials to those in crisis, we reduce the financial burden on individuals who would otherwise struggle to afford these items. This allows them to redirect limited funds toward rent, utilities, and other essentials.

Empowering people with low-cost solutions – We help individuals manage on a budget by providing access to affordable, quality second-hand goods.

Preventing crisis & financial instability – We help prevent debt cycles, eviction risks, and financial crises, giving people a foundation for long-term stability.

Encouraging self-sufficiency – Through signposting to financial support services and benefits advice, we help individuals take proactive steps toward managing their finances effectively.

Grandads Front Room actively contributes to sustainability and environmental responsibility while protecting vulnerable individuals from the effects of climate change:

Reducing waste & promoting reuse – By rescuing and redistributing pre-loved furniture, household goods, and clothing, we prevent tons of waste from going to landfill, supporting a circular economy.

Affordable, sustainable living – We provide people with energy-efficient appliances and advocate for cost-effective, environmentally friendly living solutions.

Climate change resilience for vulnerable groups – Those facing homelessness or poverty are often the first to suffer in extreme weather conditions. Our work in providing warm clothing, bedding, and emergency support helps protect those most at risk from cold winters, heatwaves, and flooding.

Community education & engagement – We encourage people to make environmentally friendly choices in their everyday lives.

We also....

- provide emergency support to young people and vulnerable individuals at risk of exploitation, crime, or unsafe living situations.

- reduce the desperation that can lead to criminal activity or risky behaviour. We also work closely with the local Business Crime Reduction Partnership and the local councils to bring police attention to matters as they arise.

- offer a safe, welcoming space for young people to volunteer, develop skills, and engage positively with their community.

- provide warm clothing, bedding, and household essentials that directly improve physical health and well-being.

- give out basic cooking equipment so vulnerable people can prepare nutritious meals, reducing reliance on unhealthy, expensive fast food.

- provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space for a friendly chat to help those facing isolation, mental health challenges, or trauma to access the help they need.

-support individuals moving from homelessness into housing by providing essential items to set up a home.

- partner with local services to ensure a joined-up approach to homelessness prevention, offering practical aid and emotional support.

- prevent individuals from falling back into homelessness by addressing urgent financial and household needs.

- provide affordable, quality second-hand furniture and home essentials, helping people create comfortable, dignified living spaces.

- by helping individuals regain independence and stability, we promote pride in social housing and prevent the marginalisation of those in need.
