Building For The Future (Wokingham)

RCN 1121458, Reading

Building for the Future is a parent led charity providing free activities, support and therapy for children with disabilities and/or additional needs and their families. On June 24th 2021 we launched a youth centre, BFTF+. This provision is dedicated to school-leavers and young adults that does not currently exist in our area. The centre provides a ‘match-making’ service between the disabled individual and mentors, buddies or activities in their area of interest.

Our House

With a range of facilities, including soft play, a sensory room, teen chill-out zone, PCs, gaming and free play area, at Our House, disabled children can relax, have fun and be truly valued and accepted for who they are.

Building for the Future runs a range of events and activities throughout the year, dates and details can be found in the What’s On section on our website. The facilities can also be hired for private functions including groups, meetings and birthday parties

Parents and carers can find support from one another, share the ups and downs, as well as finding valuable information about raising their disabled child. Siblings can make friends with other children in similar situations.

BFTF+

Building for the Future Plus is a brand-new initiative launched in June 2021.  The project aims to enable young, local, disabled adults who have left school or college, to work towards achieving their ambitions. These ambitions may relate to work, hobbies, socialising and more. We believe that we can help connect young people to life-fulfilling opportunities relating to their dreams for the future. Each young person is unique and so each individual project will be unique and entirely bespoke. The opportunities are endless, they just need to be sourced and connected to the young person.
