We're still collecting donations
On the 27th May 2023 we'd raised £6,090 with 74 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
No child can be seen reading; books are a rarity. Help us change that and build Mzimba's first library!

On the 27th May 2023 we'd raised £6,090 with 74 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The library building (phase 1) will cost approximately £6624 so I've rounded to £6000 and will make up the rest. So anything extra will help us decorate the building or start on phase 2 and 3 - the training centre and toilets. Phase 1, 2 and 3 will cost around £19,873.24 (MK25,000,000) in total.
I've visited Mzimba in Northern Malawi many times. It is rich with culture, vibrancy and warm people. It is not rich with resources. Something which vitally lacking are books and learning opportunities. Limbikira Foundation means 'we work together' and we want to work together to bring Mzimba town it's first library.
The library will offer two amazing spaces: a calm, resourceful reading environment with books and two rooms which offer practical training courses or workshops for youth. This dynamic vision will allow the library to gain some income generation whilst also upskilling its members. Local costings put the total cost at 25000,000 MK which is approximately £19,876. We will build in stages which is why we're looking for £6000 for the main library building.
We need to make this project sustainable and base it in an accessible, secure and safe building. For this reason, we have purchased land which we can build our permanent structure on rather than throw away funds on rent or rely on other spaces.
Any support you can give will directly help shape Mzimba's library building.
We're also taking donations of books to build up our resources. Just ask for the address. Send a book; start a library!
