Why are we crowdfunding?
Remember the foyer at the squash club just a few weeks ago? Having perhaps seen better days; and in need of a bit of TLC?
Well, over the past month or so we have been giving it just that! A dedicated group of volunteers have put in well over 100 hours of free labour to:
- Completely refurb the old 'boxes' in the main foyer to benches;
- Remove the dilapidated white 'sightscreens' behind the glassback courts and add a frosted film instead;
- Repaint the noticeboards and other woodwork in a contemporary style; and
- Install three colourful sets of tables and chairs.
We have already invested over £1,000 of materials in this project, and we hope everyone is already enjoying the benefits of this.
What's next, and how can I help?
With the foyer project approaching completion, we are now looking to put some finishing touches in place. In particular:
- We are in the process of improving the ceiling, with all ceiling tiles having been removed and repainted - we will be putting these back in place soon.
- We will also be adding extra lighting to help brighten up some of the darker spots in the room.
- We are looking to acquire a coffee machine, for people to be able to enjoy a coffee in our revamped foyer.
Like many sports club, funding for capital expenditure such as this is currently very difficult to find. Therefore we are appealing to members and friends of the club to consider making a donation towards the project. No matter how small or large, all donations will be genuinely appreciated.
