1The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust runs the Bruce Boats, providing holidays afloat and day trips for disabled, disadvantaged, elderly and youth groups on the canal. Based at Great Bedwyn, near Marlborough, we have four fully accessible widebeam boats, and a narrowboat used for youth groups and training.
The accessible widebeam boats are available for self-drive holiday hire and crewed day trips (email: [email protected]) They have ramps and lifts for easy access to all areas of the boat, low windows and a spacious saloon area, accessible wetrooms with shower and toilet, and a variety of beds and bunks for different group sizes and needs. The Rebecca has an electrically-operated hospital bed.
Full training is provided for those who have never driven a boat before.
Since they were started 35 years ago, the Bruce Boats have given over 30,000 disabled, disadvantaged and elderly people and their families trips on the canal which they might not otherwise have been able to access.
Please help us continue this for the next 35 years... and more!
