I became a member of Brixton BMX Club when I was around 10 years old. 19 years later, I am still an active member and aim to be a part of the club until I can't ride anymore!
I am a child of Brixton, and Brixton will always be home to me. I love the area and the people so much. Brixton BMX Club is a large part of the happiest parts of my childhood, and I know that I'm ot the only person who feels the same. I will forever be grateful for this.
I remember when the Brockwell Park BMX Track only had 9 obstacles on it. Even then, riding at the track with the club was so much fun. But there has always been a drive and desire to see the track facilities improve. Major works were organised by club volunteers in 2008, which saw the track including even more bumps and jumps to make it more challenging and fun. Then we had another upgrade in 2017, which has helped the club to attract even more riders. Now in 2021, we want to see the track in the best position it has ever been in! By adding another container on site, we will be able to house even more bikes and equipment to invite even more young people to take part in our sessions and become a part of the Brixton BMX family. Improvingn the drainage will allow the club to host sessions in all weathers, allowing us to continue to host all riders throughout the year. And with the wider project phases being developed, including fencing around the track will make it safer for all users, preventing the risk of injury and harm from animals and people who should not be on the BMX track.
We can't wait to see the track become even greater, but we can't do this without your help, so please donate! Brixton BMX Club has been a major part of my life and I hope that it can impact other young people in even greater ways than it has for me.
