We provide evidence-based information and support to people across the UK living with thyroid disorders and to those around them; we also represent the patient perspective to the medical profession.

We understand that being diagnosed and living with a thyroid disorder can have a substantial impact on a person’s life. We are a membership organisation dedicated to supporting people with thyroid disorders and their families.
We provide information and support to those affected to help them live better with their thyroid condition. We offer:
- Patient literature about all thyroid conditions, symptoms, and treatments. Our patient leaflets are sent out free of charge to patients, hospitals, and clinics in the UK and are also available in Urdu, Polish, Arabic and Mandarin.
- A series of patient experience films
- A comprehensive website www.btf-thyroid.org
- Various projects to benefit thyroid patients of all ages
- Our 'BTF News' newsletter and regular e-bulletins to BTF members
- Peer support offered by user-led local groups across the UK
- A network of volunteer telephone contacts offering peer support
- Patient and public information events, face to face and virtual
- A medical query answering service
- Closed Facebook groups
- Research funding - we offer a £20,000 Annual Research Award
- Support for nurses - two £500 Nurse Awards
- We work in close partnership with the British Thyroid Association (BTA), the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (BAETS) and the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED)
