Running is great, but running for a purpose is even better! That's why I'm running a series of ultramarathons and running challenges for the rest of the year to raise money for Blue Bubble Immersive!
Most of us are incredibly lucky to be able to swim in the ocean, dive beneath its surface, or experience it however we choose. Since childhood I have been completely enamoured by the ocean and I now find myself fortunate enough to experience it almost every single day. It has become part of my identity.
Now imagine this...
A child lies in a hospital bed, anxious and afraid. Then, with a VR headset, they are transported into an underwater world.
Dolphins glide by. Clownfish dart among anemones. Kelp forests sway gently in the current.
In that moment, fear fades. Replaced by calm, awe and wonder.
Blue Bubble Immersive aims to bring the ocean to hospitalised children through virtual reality (VR). This immersive experience is designed to ease anxiety, support mental health and provide therapeutic distraction during medical procedures.

All I can say is that it's very easy to sign yourself up to ultramarathons and commit yourself to running challenges, but it's another thing to finish them! 😆
I'm feeling pretty determined and with such an amazing cause pushing me along, I'm intending to finish them!
I have a few things in the diary (and some still in the pipeline) which culminates with the UTMB Arc of Attrition 100 miler in January 2026.

For now, here is a photo of me finishing a race in Canada, wildly unprepared with my improvised running poles (thanks forest) and severely cramping legs. The legend that is Gary Robbins (a running hero of mine) found it pretty amusing and let me know that his dog is pretty keen on taking them from me!
