This year, at Bridlington Nursery School, we want to create an amazing outdoor learning space. At the moment our playgrounds and gardens are looking old and tired and not reflective of our aims and ethos.
The creation of a new outdoor learning space in the grounds of our nursery will enable us to take the learning outdoors all day, every day, come rain, shine, sleet or snow. In the newly created area children will be able to explore the natural environment, collect treasures, ride bikes, climb trees or simply using the space to provoke curiosity and creative storytelling.
There are a huge many benefits to our children having access to an outdoor classroom in the heart of their local community including:-
- Helping them to grow in confidence as a result of the freedom, time and space they are given in their learning.
- Developing their physical skills and their gross and fine motor skills
- Developing an interest in the great outdoors and respect for the environment at an early age.
- It will help to level the playing field as taking children outside of the classroom removes the pressures of academia and allows them to play to their strengths.
And, most importantly, learning outdoors in the fresh air is great fun!
We are fortunate to have been granted some funding to help start developing our new outdoor area but to make our dreams a reality and have the important extras such as:-
- Mark Making Station
- River Bed
- Sand Pit
We very much need the help of our local community and we would be delighted if you could support and share our appeal and help create a long lasting outdoor classroom at Bridlington Nursery School.
