BRIDGEND CARERS CENTRE - The Wildflower Project

RCN 1125921, Bridgend

Supporting unpaid Carers within the County Borough of Bridgend. This project provides information, support, short breaks and signposting for autistic girls and their families.

During the pandemic we saw a huge raise in parents struggling to support their daughters. Girls, and young women, that had been doing well before Covid-19, were struggling emotionally. Some were in total crisis.

Female autism has been largely ignored, with many girls being able to mask and manage their behaviours. When the pandemic stopped the whole world, the increase in anxiety and other behaviours became prevalent throughout this community.

We started The Wildflower Project in January 2022 and it was meant to run for just 6 weeks. However, we soon realised our support would be needed for much longer.

We are so proud to offer our project throughout Bridgend County Borough, with some girls coming from outside the area for our groups.

However, once our funding comes to an end in January 2025, we are at risk of losing the project altogether. Any donation would go directly to the running costs of the project (room booking, craft activities, paying for our art teacher).
