Your support makes a difference
Aim: We’re raising £25,000 to build a skills training center for Rwandan women coffee farmers to thrive beyond the harvest.
I’m Michaelle Kubwimana — a third-generation coffee producer and founder of Kawah Coffee, a Rwandan, woman-powered specialty brand on a mission to brew change.
Growing up, I saw firsthand the challenges faced by the women who carry the weight of our coffee industry — hardworking, brilliant women who farm without access to stable incomes, education, or opportunities to grow.
When I moved to the UK, I brought with me more than just coffee beans — I brought their stories, dreams, and resilience. Today, 90% of our coffee is grown by women. We provide health insurance and early childhood education, but we want to go even further.
With your support, we will raise £25,000 to open a skills training center at our farm.
This will offer courses in:
English, entrepreneurship, and hospitality
Barista and cupping skills
Financial literacy and income diversification
It will help women and youth earn income during the off-season — and build careers, not just crops.
We already have a building ready on the farm — we just need to equip it with coffee machines, roasting and cupping lab tools, classroom furniture, and local trainers.
This is Phase 1 of a £150,000 vision we hope to complete over the next 2 years.
Your donation brings us one step closer to empowering rural communities and redefining the future of African coffee.
