Hello everyone! I’m Petru—entrepreneur, pastry tester, and lifelong automotive enthusiast. Many of you already know me from Brave Bakers, the cosy bakery we started over six years ago. I still vividly remember those early days: the first pretzel we baked, the uncertainty of starting something new, and the incredible determination to bring truly delicious recipes to Glasgow.
Over the years, with your unwavering support, we turned Brave Bakers into more than just a bakery — it became a community. Together, we’ve celebrated milestones, weathered challenges like lockdowns and rising costs, and built friendships that will last a lifetime. We even earned recognition as one of the best bakeries in Glasgow, a testament to the love and effort that went into every bake.
This year, we took a bold step toward expansion, opening a second location at the Whitehouse on Maryhill. Though its scenic beauty captured our hearts, unforeseen circumstances forced us to rapidly close its doors. Despite that setback, it gave us a glimpse of what we could achieve with more space—a place to gather, connect, and celebrate.
Our Vision: Tommy's Shed Café
Now, it’s time to reimagine Brave Bakers. Inspired by my 2-year-old son Thomas (already a budding car enthusiast!) and my own love for all things automotive, I want to transform our beloved bakery into Tommy’s Shed Café. But this will be more than a café—it will be the destination for foodies, families, and car enthusiasts alike.
Here’s what’s in store:
• Expanded seating to make room for gatherings and events.
• Automotive-inspired interior design that celebrates Scotland’s car culture while maintaining our welcoming atmosphere.
• New facilities.
• A fresh product line, already in the works, featuring exciting new flavors and offerings.
• Longer hours and events, tailored to both the local community and car enthusiasts across Scotland.
Whether you’re here for coffee, community, or car talk, Tommy’s Shed Café will be a hub of connection, delicious food, and shared passion.
Why We Need Your Help
To bring this vision to life, we need to renovate and rebrand our Saltmarket location — and this requires significant resources. That’s where you come in. Your support will help us turn this dream into reality and create a space that welcomes everyone, from long-time Brave Bakers fans to Scotland’s vibrant automotive community.
