0Brain Tumour Support is a charity dedicated to providing specialist and individual support for anyone who has been affected by any type of brain tumour. Support is free and available at any stage and for as long as it is needed, whether you are a patient, family member, friend or colleague - we are here for you.
The charity began after our CEO and Founder, Tina Mitchell Skinner, sadly lost her husband, Paul in 2003. She felt so alone throughout his brain tumour journey and felt there was a huge need for better support, especially for the friends and family of those with a brain tumour diagnosis. Pictured below is Tina, Paul and their son John, who was just 5 when he lost his Dad.
Before Paul died he and Tina decided that no one should have to face this traumatic journey alone and so the charity Hammer Out was born – named after Paul’s beloved football team, West Ham United.
Since Paul was diagnosed, support for families affected by a brain tumour, I am pleased to say, has improved enormously. What’s more, anyone who faces the devastating news of a tumour can now pick up the phone or send an email and now Brain Tumour Support is there to help, with a support network for patients and their families, made up largely of people who have experienced or been part of a similar journey. We are there for everyone, whatever the grade of tumour, whatever their individual need and however they need us to help.
