Who are we?

At Braid Health and Wellbeing, we see the ageing population as an opportunity, rather than a challenge and one which is vital for the progression of society .We are working hard towards delivering radically different approaches to providing our care and support for those experiencing conditions of ageing.

For 40 years we have run a Day Service and we are now enhancing the services we offer our clients.

Whilst our clients are with us there is also a benefit to there carers who in most instances are family members, this gives them much needed respite, to have some quality time knowing their loved ones are in our care and are in a safe environment.

Many of those we support have complex care needs including dementia, Parkinson's disease, have had a stroke or have another age-related disease. Some of our clients have mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety and loneliness.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our aim is to develop a wide variety of mental and physical wellbeing services, which are accessible to all.

We are partially funded by public money but this only provides cover for our core services and not any activities or entertainment. In order to provide impactful care services, we need the support of people to support these initiatives.

How we will spend the money raised

We are seeking support to fund external activity providers. We will hire external activity providers such as Music Therapists, Fitness trainers and wellbeing Practitioners to provide meaningful activities for our clients and to keep them entertained, social and active. This will also help provide a variety in the care we provide. We will use all of the funds raised to pay for external activity providers.

Benefits to our clients

Entertainment and activities can have a profound impact on older people, especially in a day centre setting. Here are some of the key benefits to the elderly:

  • Reduces stress-music and art can have a calming effect
  • Increased Mobility-Can improve mobility, flexibility and balance
  • Improved Coordination-can enhance hand-eye coordination and motor skills
  • Encourages Conversation-sparks discussions among participants
  • Energy boost-can give elderly an energy boost, promoting a healthier lifestyle
