Dear Brack Mount neighbours,
The Castle Banks Residents Association (CBRA) is urgently raising funds this Spring to clear trees cut down on Brack Mount.
We are working together with support from Town Councillors Nick Tigg and Jacob Fodio-Todd and alongside Sussex Past to maintain the greenery on Brack Mount.
Can you help by making a one-off £50 contribution so we can cover the cost together?
Why are we raising funds?
Last autumn, Sussex Past paid for Brack Mount to be cleared of tree growth but ran out of funds to remove and dispose of the cuttings.
It was the first time in three years that the clearance had taken place and, as a result, the work was much more time-intensive and costly.
Although Sussex Past have committed to paying for annual tree removal from Brack Mount going forwards, for this to be possible the branches from last year’s work must be cleared. And they cannot afford to cover this cost.
This issue is now becoming urgent. Spring growth that is already happening will tangle up the piles of cuttings and make them harder to remove. Also, some branches have fallen down Brack Mount and risk falling into gardens around, posing a risk to residents and property
At our April 2025 meeting Members resolved to write to all affected residents about the urgent need.
How will this work?
The CBRA is urgently seeking to raise £1,500 by end of April for this purpose. That’s a large sum but not if we share the cost between the 30+ households living immediately adjacent to the Mount.
It could be covered if we each contributed a one-off equal amount of just £50.
All money that is raised will be safely and securely stored in a dedicated account, and used for the sole purpose of Brack Mount clearance.
Want to get more involved?
Getting this job done will ensure Sussex Past can afford to undertake future maintenance work.
Please give what you can. £50 each would be enough but if you can afford to contribute more please do.
You can also support our campaign by encouraging and reminding your neighbours to contribute or by joining the CBRA. We are a friendly group who meet regularly and organise practical action around local issues that affect us. Contact Nick Tigg (07990 877007 / [email protected]) for more information
Warm regards
