Bolton Dragons is a 15 years Martial Arts family-run club and a pillar for the community, supporting Bolton and its young community, the minority, and the disadvantaged in a deprived area.
Myself, my wife, and my 5 children are all black belt athletes and we wanted to share our passion and knowledge with the Bolton community.
We created a positive learning culture, providing a blueprint for leadership, developing confident, resilient & courteous students. We help our students have better chances in life by giving them a sense of belonging which is crucial to the building of their identity. We are proud to teach them those skills but also respect and encourage them to carry these intentions outside of the dojo. We keep them out of the streets and delinquency and teach them the value and respect of Martial Arts.
We took our students all over the world to compete and few have become world champions. We have won 5 medals at the Taekwondo British Nationals last year and we have been training the children (as young as 4 years of age) ready for the 2020 Nationals before Covid happened.
Giving back to the community is also one of the most important things that our martial arts school does for the community and we take great pride in supporting our local community, elders and people in need. We give free session practice during community events and organize shows with our students during school fairs and other community events. This type of volunteerism is a great way to demonstrate to our students why giving back can be rewarding.
Since Covid-19, we have been struggling immensely with lockdown which affected a lot of parents and children, and our Dojo running out of funds.
We had to sell a lot of our equipment just to keep the club going so the local children can come and train which is very important for their mental health and well being especially since the lockdown. They worked so hard and inspiring to become the next British National taekwondo champions.
Please help us raise funds to pay for the rent, bills, equipment, and keep the dojo safe and covid friendly. We need equipment such as the free Standing Punch Bags/Sparring Dummy so the children can still practice without body contact, we need a changing room facility and the necessary sanitizing equipment.
We as a family club are passionate about providing opportunities and we want everyone regardless of their age, background, or level of ability to feel able to take part in sport and physical activity. Let's help our dragons to achieve their dreams and let's keep the Dojo open for the Bolton community.
