The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for British small businesses, particularly Community Companies like ours. We are a relatively new Community Company formed early March 2020 producing publicity videos for various local bars and venues and re-investing this revenue into our 'Community Purpose' in order to promote principally the DIY Music community in Leeds. Then lockdown happened. All out income ended as bars, venues and promoters shut up shop. We are now trying to raise money to create short form videos to both publicise our community and help raise money to pay musicians, promotors and venues impacted by the economic downturn affects of Covid-19.
BMT is a community film and media company. We produce broadcast documentaries for television andcinema release and audio-visual promotion of under – represented groups and cultural activities. We are based in Leeds United Kingdom, the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the West Yorkshire Urban Area, giving voice to local communities, whilst reflecting the city’s strong cultural diversity and globalprofile. Our rapidly expanding archive shines a light on this significant cultural heritage.
Unlike a traditional film company we produce work for the media industry but at the same time place the people we depict at the forefront of the creative process, seeking advice from the very community we portray, engaging with our social purpose via our Quorum of Community Consultants, who consist of musicians, promoters and actors.
