BLUEBELLS COMMUNITY CLUB

Charity Overview:

Bluebells Community Club is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals facing various forms of disadvantage and adversity.  Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to address the fundamental needs of vulnerable young people, empower them with necessary skills, and foster a sense of hope and resilience.  With a focus on providing advice, support, and assistance we aim to help young people advance in life by developing their skills, capacities, and capabilities; to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature, and responsible individuals.  We also prioritise advancing education, relieving unemployment, and providing recreation and leisure time activities in the interests of social welfare, with a view to improving the conditions of life for such individuals.

Our Focus:

Our focal point of work is in the Salford area, which “is currently the 18th most deprived local authority area in England (out of 317) and remains the third most deprived locality in Greater Manchester as measured by the Index of Multiple Deprivation.” (as quoted by the Salford City Council Locality Plan 2020-2025).

Through our projects, we have seen much success in improving the emotional well-being of young people through creating better social networks for them, as well as up-skilling them in various crafts and educational areas.  Over the last year we have worked with over 165 young beneficiaries, bringing them projects such as dance and drama clubs, art workshops, warm winter meals, and holiday playschemes.

Achievements:

One of our recent projects has been the Parenting course which we piloted to help improve the lives of young people and their carers, and 5/6 of parents indicated that they learnt new skills and tools via the parenting forum.  We periodically arrange recreational trips for young people and 86% of participants felt that these activities boosted their self confidence in social settings. Our Art workshops are highly sought-after with subscription filling up very fast.  Feedback has shown that 84% of participants said they felt an improvement in their emotional wellbeing following the Arts program, 91% of participants developed new skills as a result of the Arts workshops, and 4/5 users don’t have regular access to Arts.  We consider it a success when we are able to open up more career opportunities to young people, and also when we enable them to improve their soft-skill-set, and their emotional and mental wellbeing.
