Who are we?
Bloxwich RFC currently field two adult teams - firsts and seconds. The first team play in a competitive league, whilst the second team play on average every 3 weeks. The latter is composed of colts, veterans (we have several players over 60, and a 70 year old!), and new and social players. Several times throughout the season, both the firsts and seconds have had home games and we have nearly 100 odd people playing rugby.
We train pretty much all year around and all sessions are open and free to anyone wishing to have some fun, be social, or learn to play. Our preseason fitness and conditioning training in the summer months is delivered by a local PT and always draws a good crowd. Having built our player base back up over recent years, we have discussed restarting a youth section so any funds raised through this project would get us closer to achieving.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are looking primarily to upgrade our floodlights to guarantee that we can train in Bloxwich all year round, and to install a footpath between the clubhouse and pitches to allow better access for families. Depending on the amount raised, we would also like to install an astroturfed area for
Each year we are approached by at least 4 or 5 teams to ask whether they can use our floodlights to train in King Georges during the dark nights, and have recently hosted kid's games when their pitches have been flooded. Parents and players are always surprised that Bloxwich has a rugby club!
