Aim: Support BITCH, our award-winning tragicomedy cabaret, on its journey to Edinburgh Fringe 2025 with Pleasance!
Following its five-star, award-winning run at Dublin Fringe Festival, BITCH is hoping to make its international debut at Edinburgh Fringe.
We all have a crazy ex, right?
Well, she’s here. Tonight.
Dogged, drunk and self-destructing, she’s declaring open war at an open mic.
And she has a lot to say.
Don’t they f*****g all?
All bark and all bite, BITCH is an explosion of theatrical chaos that combines cabaret, standup and drag with razor-sharp comedy and questions of complicity.
BITCH came out of wanting to have the tough, heavy conversations I don’t know how to have any way than through humour and theatre. It is a cathartic, dark, hopefully funny interrogation of what makes a bad person - is it their actions, or what the world has taught them to think they are. It also looks at gender, horizontal hostility, punch-down politics and what it's okay to laugh at anymore - all which feel even more relevant than they did when we first produced it last year. It’s silly, scary and ruthlessly honest. And beyond the heavy stuff, it's just a big explosion of joyous, raging theatre: cabaret, standup, drag, and hopefully hilarious piano songs. It's made with the most incredibly talented, dedicated and impressive team, and I'm so, so proud of it. The show won Best Performer and Spirit of the Fringe, and Best Production and Best New Writing nominations at Dublin Fringe Festival last year; completely sold out its short run with waiting lists, including a packed-out extra added show; and received five-star reviews. We have been lucky enough to be offered a slot in Pleasance at Edinburgh Fringe this year, one of the most important international festivals for new work, particularly new comedy. Unfortunately though, making an Edinburgh Fringe Debut with such an ambitious production is competitive and, more importantly, costly.
What would your support mean?
Edinburgh Fringe is an expensive endeavour for independent artists like us but it remains one of the most important festivals for emerging theatre. It offers us a chance to connect with diverse new audiences in a massive way with the shows vital message, and make an international impact as an urgent, experimental new piece of Irish theatre.
We are lucky enough to have been selected for the Culture Ireland Edinburgh Showcase, and to have been able to put back our profits from last years Dublin Fringe, as well as our own investment, because we believe in this show and want it to make it to Edinburgh. This has so far covered our registration, travel and accommodation. But the reality is: bringing a show to the world’s biggest arts festival comes with a price tag we can’t meet alone.
Your support will go towards the extensive upfront costs of bringing a show to Edinburgh Fringe:
Any donation, big or small, that you can give us would go a long way into ensuring this vital new work made by an ambitious team of Irish women and non-binary artists can make an impact on Edinburgh.
Thank you, sincerely, for your support to help bring BITCH back!
