Hello! 

My name is Vitor Martins, My friends call me caxarolas...

Iam a veterinary nurse. I found my passion when I was 4 years old of age, since then all my life been about rescue animals . My family also shares the same love for animals like i do.

I have been diagnosed with CKD (chronic kidney disease ) from young age(25).

Since my kidneys failed  I need to be conected to a machine most part of my day. 

This machine saves my life — but it also robs me of hours, energy, freedom and dignity. Every day I struggle to survive, while dreaming of something simple: to live again,to be ale to eat a simple soup, drink a mear glass of water and  my breathing will not start to become heavier and heavier, until the next time i conect to what i call the infernal fundamental machine. It helps as much as it drains your energy and your organs function! But it is what it is...

TODAY I come to ask for your HELP.

But not just for me — for all the millions of people around the world living with end-stage renal failure.

The world's first implantable bioartificial kidney is being developed in the United States by UCSF (University of California, San Francisco):

Does not require immunosuppressants.

No donors needed.

It can end dialysis.

And it can save millions of lives.

This project is called The Kidney Project.

But it is stopped due to lack of funds.

They need $10 million to start human clinical trials.

I want to help.

And I want to be one of the first candidates to test it.

That's why I created this campaign to:

Raise funds and donations directly for research.

Spread this technology to the world.

And show that we, patients, can also be part of the solution.

All proceeds will go directly to UCSF to be used in the development and testing of the bioartificial kidney.

I have already contacted the project team and expressed my interest in being a candidate. Now, I want to mobilize the world.

 Because if we don't do it for ourselves, who will?
