Some of you may know that the last few months of Bills life were spent at Linden House on Shadsworth Road in Blackburn being looked after by their amazing staff. It was close enough for Julie (who doesn’t drive) to walk to and from every day and Jason also on Jason’s way home from work. So it meant he could have daily visitors. The staff soon became like friends - especially to Julie as we all know she will talk to anyone about anything for a huge length of time 😂 but they were also an amazing support for her helping her navigate the ‘official documents’ side of things which that in its self is a huge emotional weight to carry especially when you have to relay information back to other people. On top of this they had to take care of Bill who wasn’t exactly in his prime (let’s say) he had become a version of himself that we didn’t recognise and we did not envy the level of care he needed from these amazing staff members. As his granddaughter I often said to my mum ‘I don’t know how they do it…’ on top of the other residents needing care too. So any money we raise in Bills name will be given to Linden House as part of their fundraising to get a singer (or maybe 2??) in to sing for the residents. Bill loved his music and even before his stroke we used to put his music on.. he might not remember what he had for breakfast but he knew every word of his favourite songs and even sang them before they played! The music soothed his soul and made him happy. It would be amazing if we could even find a Frank Sinatra tribute to attend in Bills name as he was his favourite! But that’s a job for another day based on how much funds we can raise :-) thanks for reading and hopefully we can bring some smiles to peoples faces in Bills name.
