Our Scottish Land Fund application has been approved!
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to the crowdfunder so far. We are humbled by the response and the speed at which we were able to reach the target. Thanks to everyone who shared, promoted and donated.
We are also absolutely delighted to share the news that we have been successful in our Scottish Land Fund funding application! Woohoo!!! This is a huge milestone for Bigton Collective and we are extremely grateful to the Scottish Land Fund for this opportunity. It has been an involved and rigorous process and we are grateful to all the agencies and individuals who have supported, advised and encouraged us throughout the feasibility study. We are so proud of our project and excited about the potential benefits to our community. Thank you so much, everyone!
Unfortunately, the process of negotiating the sale of the Kirk building is not going to be as straightforward as we were led to believe. However, due to your generosity, we are now in a really strong position to make an offer to the Church of Scotland at market value. We have no formal guarantee that our offer will be accepted, but the Church of Scotland have assured us that they are not just interested in financial gain and that they will take into account the social and community benefits.
We would also like to reassure all donors that if we are unsuccessful in buying the Kirk, we will of course refund all donations in full.
Please get in touch at [email protected] or speak to any of us anytime if you have any questions.
We are so pleased to have reached this stage and confident that we are offering a really strong proposal that will benefit the community and enable a lasting legacy for the Kirk in Bigton.
