The Bells at St Marys Church, Kempsey, Worcestershire, have been rung regualary over 300 years, siginaling the beginging of Church Services on a Sunday, or as anact of celebreations for Weddings and major events.
The bells at Kempsey are the only active Anti-Clockwise ring in Worcestershire, which brings a lot of visitors to the tower to ring "the other way around", they have been visited by ringers across the UK who wish to ring at a unique location with the Malvern Hills in the background.
The bells in 2012 we augmented from its original ring of six bells, to eight bells as part of a plan created by the a previous tower captain from the 1930's. The community came together to support a an ambitious project to adding two new bells to the tower. With support from The Queen Jubilee Fund, Community funding and money left by previous bell ringers two new bells were installed.
After many years or ringing, we are now needing support to do some minor and major repairs to the heaviest of the bells that are needing some work completed by the professionals.
We are looking to for support on this project to keep this traditional heritage art of Campanology so that we can continue ringing these amazing bells now, and for many years to come.
The project covers the removal of the rear 4 bells from the tower to be restored and adjusted, new parts that have worn away over the years, and a set of bell ropes.
