What you will be doing

As a small and passionate team, we have very limited skills in Excel, which is beginning to impact how we record our finance and data. At Feathers Futures, we support women facing disadvantage, trauma, and isolation, and while our frontline work is strong, we struggle behind the scenes with organising and managing spreadsheets effectively.

We would love support from someone with good Excel knowledge who can help us build templates tailored to the way we work, offer guidance on using formulas and functions, and show us how to streamline the way we track our data and finances.

We’re really open to learning and would value someone who can work alongside us, either in person at our community hub in Great Yarmouth, or remotely. Your skills could make a big difference to our small charity, freeing up our time and energy to support more women.

What we are looking for

Our ideal volunteer is someone with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel someone who feels confident using formulas, creating templates, and helping others understand how to use Excel more efficiently. You don’t need to be an expert or a trainer just someone patient, supportive, and happy to share what you know in a friendly and accessible way.

We’d love to work with someone who understands that small charities often juggle many tasks and don’t always have the systems or tools in place to work as efficiently as they’d like. Your support could make a real, lasting difference by helping us streamline our processes, improve how we record finance and data, and build confidence in our team.

Whether you're looking to share your skills, give back, or connect with a values-led organisation, you’ll be warmly welcomed. You'll be part of a supportive, passionate team, and your time will directly help us support more women in need.

You can volunteer in person at our friendly community hub in Great Yarmouth or remotely, whatever works best for you.

What difference this will make

This role has the power to transform how we work as a charity. By improving our use of Excel, volunteers will help us become more efficient in recording financial data, tracking outcomes, and organising information, freeing up valuable time that can be spent directly supporting women in need.

Your support will strengthen the backbone of our organisation, helping us run more smoothly, make better use of our resources, and demonstrate our impact to funders and supporters. For a small team with limited digital skills, this kind of help is invaluable.

Volunteering with Feathers Futures is more than a task, it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful. You'll see how your knowledge makes a real difference, feel appreciated by a welcoming team, and know that you're helping women in your community build brighter, more confident futures.

What to bring

There’s nothing you need to bring, just yourself! We’ll provide everything you need for the task. Whether you're supporting us in person or online, we’ll make sure you feel welcome, supported, and part of the team. If you’re visiting Feathers House, we’ll pop the kettle on!

Accessibility

We’re a small charity in need of Excel support. You’re welcome to help in person or online—whatever works best for you at a time that suits you! Your time will help us use spreadsheets more efficiently and keep our services running smoothly.

Additional Details

Feathers Futures is a women’s centre, and many of the women we support have experienced trauma or abuse. To protect their comfort and safety, our in-person services are for women only during opening hours.

However, we absolutely welcome support from anyone regardless of gender who wants to volunteer their skills and time. If you’re male or identify outside of our service user base, we’d love to work with you remotely or arrange times outside of our usual opening hours. Your support is valued, and we’ll always do our best to find a way that works for everyone.
