A little bit about us for some context...
Hi, we are Feast Pembrokeshire, a live fire cookery & BBQ catering business established in 2021. As our name implies, we are based in beautiful Pembrokeshire, West Wales and have been travelling all over Wales & the southwest over the last 3 years, covering a huge range of events including food festivals, weddings, music festivals, private hire, brewery pop ups, cookery experience days and much more, cooking over open fire & BBQ all the way. You may have even caught us at one of these events or visited our Tenby restaurant, Tap & Tân, so you may know what we're all about. But if you haven't... Great Welsh produce & bold flavour is at the heart of what we do, as well as igniting conversations and creating a shared dining experience through our love and appreciation of great food. We work closely with farmers, growers, butchers & independent suppliers to source quality, seasonal produce year round.
We started the business in Feb 2021, whilst still navigating the uncertainty of COVID lockdowns and restrictions. We offered takeaway fire cooked menus, cooked from our back garden to get things started, and quickly established a busy calendar of pop up events at farm shops, campsites & brewery yards throughout Pembrokeshire. This exposure very quickly turned into wedding bookings and larger scale events for late 2021 and exciting opportunities within the hospitality industry locally including residencies and winter private hire events.

2022 proved to be a huge year for Feast. We had a very busy calendar of outdoor events and Spring 2022 presented us the opportunity to take on a permanent kitchen within a restaurant premises, in collaboration with the awesome team at Tenby Brewing Co. In April, Tap & Tân was opened. A live fire cookery & craft beer venue in the heart of Tenby town. We have an open kitchen with a large cabinet smoker & open fire grill on show, which is regularly fully loaded with Pembrokeshire produce, such as pulled pork shoulders, wings, smoked chuck brisket and much much more... We host regular DJ slots, wood fired Sunday lunches, group booking tables and offer our ever popular BBQ sharing platters and epic 1kg ribeye steaks, all cooked over open fire. Taking on the kitchen at T&T allowed us to further expand and employ a full time team, serving bbq and fire food year round, whilst also continuing our outdoor events with Feast.

With both Tap & Tân and our Feast events becoming increasingly popular, 2023 was another year of growth. We expanded our awesome team with the arrival of 3 new staff members. We were able to complete a purpose built prep kitchen for all of our events. Previously all of our prep for events had been done within the (not very big) kitchen facilities at T&T. This was a game changer for our events, allowing us to prepare more food to avoid selling out at public events (ie. pop ups, food festivals etc)

Our summer pop ups proved incredibly popular, with most events selling out before end of service, despite our best efforts to bring and prepare more and more stock every time. We ended the summer on a high by cooking at the prestigious Abergavenny Food Festival. We served a record number of people across 2 days, and realised that we had most definitely reached the capacity and capabilities of our current equipment, fire pits and BBQs that had served us so well over the last 3 years.

After countless hours of discussions, planning and ideas, we came across a company based in the UK that custom builds incredible quality Texan style, trailer mounted, fully mobile, offset smokers. Ironbrand Smokers manufacture these incredible rigs, and after conversations with Jason at Ironbrand, we were convinced that the huge cooking capacity and show-stopping look will provide us with the opportunity to grow, improve and learn more about the art of fire cookery, we knew that this was the answer. "Project Beast of Feast" was alive!
(A 500 gallon, custom built smoker pictured above. We plan a few small changes, but we will keep those a secret for now...)
The smoker, that will affectionally be known as "The Beast of Feast", will allow us to expand our food offerings, massively increase our capacity/output, and give us the opportunity to explore a whole range of larger & exciting events in the near future, while also allowing us to employ additional staff members on a year round basis for the events side of the business, keeping up with the increasing demand that the events have created.
We have plans in the pipeline to host fire cookery/BBQ events at awesome venues here in Pembrokeshire and West Wales, with a strong emphasis on community, featuring friends and other BBQ/live fire cookery chefs, local DJs, craft stalls, local breweries & much more going forward.
Our goals & targets and what we plan to use them for...
With your help, we aim to raise a target of £15,000 for this exciting project. Here is what we plan to use the target amount for...
- The majority of sums raised will be used for the purchase of the smoker itself. Custom built in the UK. The 500 gallon tank, has an enormous capacity for cooking. We will fuel "The Beast" with locally sourced oak, ash & birch as well as sustainable British charcoal.
- Remaining funds within the initial target will be used within a marketing budget to promote exciting new events and the design of new merchandise to coincide with the arrival and first events that we cook with the smoker.
- If we break our initial target of £15000, we have set a stretch budget of an additional £5000. This would be used to add crucial infrastructure such as refrigeration, additional catering equipment and contributions to a secure storage facility for the smoker.
