We are a non profit, volunteer run registered charity established in 1971. I moved to the village in 1999 and joined the junior football committee when my sons joined the teams. When they moved into adult football I then joined the playing fields association committee and have since become a trustee. In 2010 we embarked on a mission to improve the facilities we provide for the benefit of our communities. As our and surrounding area has expanded so too has the use of our facilities and over recent years have evolved from being sport based to supporting a wide range of user groups. Approximately 6 years ago we installed a 30kw solar panel system with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint. Our vision is to become as environmentally friendly as possible to also assist our long term sustainability. We would like to install battery storage to our solar panel system, replace all lighting with led equivalent together with in/out sensor timers where practicable, replace water taps with censor taps ( on/off with movement ) and eventually replace the LPG heating with a ground/air source heat pump. We have received quotes to install 6 x 5kw solar batteries and associated equipment together with replacing 3 x 1000 watt floodlight lamps with LED equivalent and would use money raised towards achieving our goals.
