Salaam and Hello,
As someone with roots in Bangladesh, particularly the Sylhet district, I am deeply troubled and saddened by the recent devastating floods that have ravaged the area. It's heartbreaking to witness the suffering of so many men, women, and children in my homeland.
As the world grapples with the consequences of climate change and global warming, disasters like this will only become more common, and it is often the developing countries that bear the heaviest burden. Similar floods were only experienced 2 years ago and this will only become more frequent and more devastating as time passes.
Entire families have seen their homes and livelihoods washed away in a matter of hours. The poorest among them are suffering the most, with no place to return to, no food, destroyed crops, closed schools, and hospitals that are overwhelmed or inoperative. The devastation has impacted nearly 2+ million people.
For those of us in more fortunate positions, we have an opportunity to help ease this suffering. I am working to raise £500, which could support about 10 families for an entire month. If 20 people contribute £25 each, we can easily reach this goal. It’s a small amount, but it can make a big difference.
Thank you so much for your support.
