ABOUT THE TRUST …..
Bakewell Town & Community Trust started life as a Study Group in 2004 when the future of Bakewell Town Hall was uncertain. The Town Council, who ran the Town Hall at the time, were looking to reduce costs and an alternative use for the building was actively being sought, plans were even floated to hand over the building to a housing association.
But the people of Bakewell weren’t ready to lose their Town Hall!
A public consultation was launched, a business plan was prepared, and the council agreed to the formation of a charity to take over the operation.
Bakewell Town & Community Trust was established as a Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee in 2006 and after four long years, the Trust formally entered into a 40 year lease on the building on the 1st March 2009.
A programme of refurbishment was immediately launched and after almost a year of hard work, Bakewell Town Hall was transformed into a bright, modern and more useable facility. The Town Council, who retain responsibility for structural repairs, carried out a programme of works in 2010 including the installation of a lift ensuring the building became accessible to all.

THE OBJECTIVE …..
The Trust's main objective is ‘to preserve and restore Bakewell Town Hall, for the benefit of the public, being of constructional, architectural and historical heritage’.
All of the events run by the Trust are done so with this objective in mind and to raise the much needed funding to preserve and restore this magnificent building.

THE GOAL …..
After 14 years the building is looking tired once again and the Trust are working hard to raise the funds to give our Town Hall the spruce up it once again requires.
The staff and Trustees are volunteering their time to clean and paint the interior of the building, but as you can imagine the painting is quite a daunting task in such vast rooms.
We would love to be able to employ someone to take on the more difficult areas and help us achieve our plan in a much shorter time frame.
You can help us do this by supporting our wide range of events. Any event the Trust runs is not only to provide for the community, but to fundraise for such projects; so every ticket, drink or piece of cake you buy from us, contributes to our goals.
Alternatively you can make a donation on here, every penny helps!!
