We support expectant mums and families with pre-school children who are struggling to afford the essentials needed for a growing family. We aim to ensure every child has a safe place to sleep. Our charity is staffed entirely by volunteers with no paid staff. We desperately need to raise funds so that we can move to larger premises, this will enable us to help more families as we will then have room to store larger equipment. Everyone who uses our service is referred by a health or social care professional.

Baby Basics Lowestoft was first established in 2016 becoming a registered charity in 2024. We aim to help local families who are struggling to provide for their pre-school children, women with pre-school children fleeing Domestic Violence, young women leaving care who are pregnant in fact any expectant mother or family who find themselves in need of support.
Since 2016 we have been working out of one room at Gunton Baptist Church, however if we are to continue expanding the help we can offer we need larger premises. Last year we costed this project for the next five years at £65,000, we are now looking at ways of raising this money.
All the families we help are referred by Health or Social Care professionals, we would like to offer them choices the same as other families, although somewhat more limited. In order to do this we need to rent larger premises where we are able to store and display items. For some first time mothers it helps them to bond with their babies if they are able to choose such items as cots and prams. We aim to ensure every child referred to us has a safe place to sleep by providing new mattresses. However, we can currently only purchase a few at a time due to lack of storage space, if we were able to buy in bulk this would save the charity a lot of money.
