The Amman Valley Leisure Centre staff fundraising event will take place on the 7th September. We will be walking from Freshwater West to Tenby, a distance of 42km / 26 miles with over 1000m of ascent and descent.
Last year our three nominated charities received an equal share of more than £2200, and this year it would be brilliant if we could match that.
Charities we have nominated are
The Hangout https://www.thehangoutwales.org/
Sue Ladd and Friends https://sueladdandfriends.co.uk/
Wales Air Ambulance https://www.walesairambulance.com/
Based in Garnant, The Hangout aims to improve mental health and reduce isolation through outdoor activity. They offer equine courses and woodland crafts to those who wish to improve their health and wellbeing and develop a sense of community and shared interest.
Sue Ladd and Friends is a well known local charity close to AVLC's heart. It is Sue's wish, with the help of friends, to continue raising money to fund research and treatment of cancer and in so doing encourage people to learn how important it is to support one another and enjoy the cameraderie that follows such a fellowship.
After an extremely traumatic incident in Ammanford earlier in April of this year that involved two Air Ambulances we decided that this had to be one of our nominated charities. The Wales Air Ambulance delivers advanced lifesaving medical care to people across Wales 24/7. It is the only air ambulance charity, based in, and dedicated to, the people of Wales and relies entirely on charitable donations to raise £11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and fleet of rapid response vehicles on the road.
Wish us luck!
