Aurum provides specialist support for autistic women and girls, and their families, in Worcestershire and Shropshire. The service is led by autistic women and specialist autism professionals, and our group members also have input into what we offer as a service.
Aurum provides a safe and supportive space for autistic women and girls to socialise with each other and build their self-confidence. Our groups also help our members to understand their autism and their needs as autistic females. Being among autistic peers can remove some of the pressure of feeling the need to mask and hide autistic traits. We also provide one-to-one support for our members. There has been an ever growing demand for our services, which shows the importance of what we offer, and also highlights the lack of similar support services for women and girls. The majority of the individuals we support are not in receipt of social care support, or support from NHS mental health services, and so they rely heavily on voluntary organisations such as ourselves to provide autism specific support.
A number of our group members, families and staff will be completing a 10 mile circular walk in the Malvern Hills on the 15th of September 2024. Starting from Blackhill car park we will be walking to the peak of Worcestershire Beacon, around North Hill, and back to the original car park. The funds raised by this walk will help us to continue providing support to our current and future members. Please sponsor us!
