We're still collecting donations

On the 13th March 2024 we'd raised £151 with 3 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Who are we?

We are a local cricket club right in the heart of Birmingham - Formed in 1903, we have our 121 years anniversary this season.

We run 3 seniors teams in the Warwickshire cricket league and have a very active and successful system for youth cricket development, supporting our youth teams within the junior section.

We actively participate in the England Cricket Board initiative ALL STARS NS We also run Baby Batters, Under 11,13,15 and Under 17 teams.

Why are we crowdfunding?

In recent years we have been desperately trying to upgrade and improve the cricket club facilities. Our Cricket Practice Nets have reached the end of their useful life having served us for over some 15 years and require refurbishment to ensure safety and performance consistency. Additionally, due to substantial rainfall since March 2023, we've faced significant issues with the outfield ground. To address this, we plan to execute a comprehensive program to prepare both the cricket practice nets and outfield for use in the 2024 season and beyond.

Based on quotes that we have received for the practice nets renovation this will be a mid 5 figure sum in the remit of £12,000-£14,000 however until we have started the project and our chosen contractor has fully reviewed the condition below the artificial service, these costs may increase. Whilst the top surface still looks semi presentable in our 2nd nets lane, the issue in how they play is underneath the matting and the matting also needs to be replaced.

We strongly believe and are committed to being environmentally conscious.

We don't have funds to do the work ourselves so are desperately trying to raise funds via the crowdfunding app.

We are hoping to start this work in February/March 2024 so it will be all ready for the start of the season.

We hope you can help and support us in our quest!

How we’ll spend the money raised

All the money raised will be used to improve the cricket practice nets at the cricket club which means we will have a new and welcoming facility for adults and children to enjoy over the coming years.

We are proposing to have 3 New High Quality Practice Nets available at all times

We plan to refurb the outdoor practice nets to replace our worn out nets facilities

Community impact

The cricket club is an integral part of the community in Birmingham, Perry Barr for our local youth. The cricket club aims to produce future cricketers but, more importantly, enjoyment, exercise, friends and mental well-being. We play competitive cricket but with a strong sense of fun.

The cricket club gives a place for people from all age groups a chance to play an active team sport in a safe environment and more importantly have fun!

Junior training takes place every Friday and we often have close to 60 kids attending the sessions which are fun and run by qualified CRB checked coaches.
