ASPIRE RYDE

RCN 1163336, Ryde

We offer a wide range of services to meet every type of need. We have a passion for community and making our area a place where people can thrive. Community to us means the whole community – all ages and all abilities. We work with lots of partner organisations to bring people and services together to be able to transform lives and give people the best chance in life. So we transformed our unique space into a community hub to encourage that there was something for everyone on site. Registered as a local charity, with local trustees our volunteer team bring a wealth of skills & abilities to serve each other.

We are a community hub, providing services throughout the week in two redundant buildings a church and retail space which now buzz with activity. What we offer includes:

Ady's Cafe – A low-cost café staffed by volunteers, stocking ethically sourced food and coffee. We also provide drinks and meals for homeless and vulnerable people.

Free Food Project - numerous local retail outlets donate unused food to us some of which is cooked to provide a free lunch for our volunteers and members of the community. Much of the food is displayed in a weatherproof porch, available 24/7 to anyone who wishes to help themselves.

Kingdom Play – Inexpensive children’s play area accompanying Kingdom Cafe, a large three level play area for over 5’s and a ball pit for under 5’s. No Age restriction. Staffed By volunteers, open most days of the week.

Volunteer Maintenance Team – Men and Women come together to maintain both buildings and garden areas, plus a cycle workshop

Aspire to Sew - free use of sewing machines and equipment plus instruction

Community Lunch –  Free hot lunches delivered in a 'Warm inviting space'

Supported Volunteering - opportunities for people who need a bit more support and assistance to help contribute within Aspire

Wellbeing & Social Groups – small groups offering art, crafts, knitting, creative writing, jigsaws or coffee, cake, and chat. The aim of these groups is to encourage people to get out and share their skills.

On a Tuesday 10 – 1 the Aspire Information point is open for members of the public and volunteers who need signposting to relevant services. This is operated by our Community Connector Steve Johnson and Citizen’s Advice. The Community Connection team also gives individual support to those needing more than a drop-in signposting service.

Venue hire for numerous community groups and activities including Rehearsal space and Recording Studio, Drop in Information Point, a Community Choir, After-School Singing and Drama, Yoga, Pole Fit, Kung Fu, Dance Classes, National Autistic Society

Any profits made from projects are put straight back into services to support the local community and into maintaining our amazing buildings.

Absolutely everyone is encouraged to come down to Aspire and get involved. We are very much driven by what the community would like from us and projects are evolved around people and their needs, so if you have an idea, come, and talk to us! Our volunteers are friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic about the work they do.
