Help Artemisia CIC to establish its first community herbal medicine clinic, supporting resilience by making plant medicine accessible to all

by Artemisia: Plant Medicine Pathways CIC in King's Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom

We're still collecting donations

On the 31st January 2023 we'd raised £1,515 with 33 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Artemisia: Plant Medicine Pathways was set up as a community interest company earlier this year to help make herbal medicine accessible to all. We're currently based near Downham Market in Norfolk and we're establishing a community clinic here, as well as a community medicine garden where lots of amazing herbs will be grown according to organic and permaculture principles. These will be used to make tinctures, glycerites, infusions, powders and other preparations, to be prescribed to patients after individual consultations. The community clinic model is based around consultations by being offered by medical herbalists on a sliding fee scale, according to income. We're aiming to keep medicines as affordable as possible, by growing, foraging and making as many of them as we can; community medicine making days where participants learn skills and make preparations for the dispensary will contribute to this in future. The long-term vision is to establish more gardens and clinics in other locations to serve the communities that need them, but first we need to get this one up and running!

At our initial base, we have a lovely landlord and a beautiful space to use for consultations, as a herbal dispensary, for herb drying, medicine making and workshops. We've got off to a flying start over the last couple of months, including putting up shelves (thank you ORB Woodcraft!), bringing books, and buying tinctures and dried herbs to get the basic dispensary in place, but there are still some more things that we need, including a sturdy couch for physical examinations, cupboard doors and blinds for the room. Sharing knowledge about plants and how to work with them is a really important element of making herbal medicine accessible too, so equipment including bowls, pots, pans and scales, that will help with this is also needed. It would be brilliant if you could support us to purchase and source these things, then we can really get things rolling!

Here's a list of what we still need to acquire, and if you think you can help by giving us the actual stuff instead of money, it would be great to hear from you...

-Cupboard doors

-Aerial herb drying racks

-Label printer

-100ml, 200ml, 300ml, 400ml and 500ml bottles, 30ml and 60ml jars, dropper bottles, etc.

-Portable, strong, lightweight couch that folds away easily

-2 drawer filing cabinet

-Equipment for running workshops, e.g. large stainless steel pans with lids, glass measuring jugs, scales, measuring cylinders, sieves, heatproof bowls

-Curtains

-Blinds

-Additional medicines

-Folding wooden chairs

-An alembic still for making essential oils and aromatic waters

Thank you so much for your help and support; it is hugely appreciated! Please share widely so we can reach our target and share the herbie word!
