Tunbridge Wells is renowned for its brilliant community of creative talent, and we are celebrating art in all its forms in a new FREE event for the public on 21/22 September.
The Art of the Pantiles Festival will bring an exciting FREE event to The Pantiles by creating a weekend Cultural Festival to attract visitors. The event centres on, and celebrates, the artisan nature of The Pantiles, especially the Lower Walks and the historical element of the Georgian Walkway.
Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to learn about and experience art in all its forms, including the ‘Pantiles Artist of the Year Competition’, as well as the arts of ceramics, sewing, poetry, jewellery, glass making, and furniture repairs, restoration and refinishing. There will be interactive events for children and adults alike alongside Classical Music, Comedy and Drama.
The Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society and the new Pump Room will host speakers on topics as diverse as Georgian local History, Coco Chanel and Recycled Textile Design. There will be stalls along the Lower and upper Walks showcasing high quality arts and crafts as well as entertainment from the Bandstand.
The event will cost us over £7,000 to put on and we are proud to have raised over £5,500 of the costs already, but we really need the help of our local community to get us over the line .... if 150 people gave £10 we would have what we need to make this event a success! Thank you!
