Art in Herts

Aim: To create an all inclusive community art space for creatives to use & the public to enjoy, with an Art Gallery, Exhibition Area & Artpods.

I am a photographer that bought a business 9 years ago to print and frame my own photography that I had sold. After 5 years of doing this and meeting well over a hundred local artists through framing, photographing and reproducing their work for them I heard about all their struggles which are plentiful. 

Scams on social media, expensive exhibition spaces or church halls that don't work, galleries that charge horrendous commissions, insular existence, confidence issues, constantly battling the system and this leaves the artist downbeat & thinking "why am I doing this"?

I took all of this on board and came up with what is now known as "Art in Herts" a community art space that is there for them to use as they want but most importantly it is a "not for profit" community project.

Local creatives, clubs and societies can exhibit their art, individuals can be involved in a permanent gallery space, sell originals & Fine Art Prints of their work. From the publics perspective the aim is to break the stigma of art galleries, making it a comfortable place for everyone to enjoy looking at art, getting the wonderful art created by local people seen by the public who might have previously felt uncomfortable going into galleries. The money raised will help create these spaces for the community & for art lovers to see & buy fantastic art knowing the artist is getting 100% of what they are worth!

Art lessons given by local artists to the local community, a wonderful place to feel at peace and be creative away from the day to day grind. The final piece of the project will be a Tea & Coffee shop, which will be phase 2 of funding.

The initial funding money raised will be used to create the infrastructure to

• 1 - The exhibition and gallery area approx 1800 sq ft of floor space
• 2 - The Photography studio & Artpod room approx 1200 sq ft of floor space
• 3 - The art lesson room

The aim is to give the wonderful and amazing artists a space that they can believe in and that is truly there for them, whilst at the same time making art all inclusive and accessible to everyone. Just looking & admiring, buying local art or lessons learning art for the first time, taking their art to the next level, this creative art based community project is here for the people.
