Your support makes a difference

Aim: Support our team to answer the question: How can an artist break free from external pressures and rediscover the joy of creation?

What does art truly mean to you?

"art* / a:t / noun" is a dynamic, multidisciplinary performance that explores the journey of self-discovery through art and the pushing of boundaries of creativity and personal connection.

Through dance, media projections, and thought-provoking visuals, the performance delves into the conflict between artistic authenticity and the desire for external validation. It challenges the idea of commercial success in the creative industries, questioning whether one should compromise creative integrity for popularity or financial gain.

The narrative shifts toward deep introspection: “How can an artist break free from external pressures and rediscover the joy of creation?”

Produced and designed by Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) graduate Theatre and Performance Tech and Design students Jasmine Lam and Faith To, and choreographed and performed by graduate dancers Zoe Clark, Thea Solberg, and Freya Jones, the production digs into a struggling artist's psyche alongside others who are struggling with the same question and get ready to have an advantage in this industry.

From LIPA to EdFringe

We've successfully performed previews in LIPA in April. And we have received incredible feedback from our audience!

  • "Really beautiful, expressive journey, I really loved the visual language created through physical movement intertwined with simple flowing scenery. An absolute artistic treat shaped by an innovative mix of young practitioners emerging from LIPA." -- Olivia Du Monceau, Set and Costume Designer
  • “Just brilliant. Brought me to tears when I walked out cause I’ve had a similar experience.”
  • “Hits you right in the heart and leaves you thinking about it for days.”
  • “As an artist, this just feels like a personal attack.”

We’re now taking the next big step: bringing this show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025.

Why your support matters?

We’re juggling part-time jobs, hosting bake sales, and pinching pennies wherever we can — but to make this show a reality, we still need your help!

Our goal is to raise £2000 for:
1. Transportation & accommodation at the EdFringe
2. Venue cost
3. Base budget for set build & equipment hire
4. And so much more!

Every donation — big or small — brings us closer to that stage in Edinburgh. And if you can’t give financially, a share on social media means the world too.

Support the future of theatre and help us tell a story that matters.
Let’s prove that bold, independent art still has a place in the world.
