Arisaig Community Trust (ACT) are asking for donations to give some of the Arisaig village shorefront a much needed facelift. Although we have a small population we have thousands of visitors come to see what makes our wee place on the West coast so special.
This means our small shorefront car park is heavily used and, without council support, badly needs resurfacing. Your donations will pay for this work and the creation of a more accessible path along the front, complete with new picnic benches. Part of the new path will be laid in natural stone engraved with a name (forename & surname) specified by the donor. This may be the name of someone you are close to such as a child, grandchild or friend. The idea is to reinforce connections between individuals and create connections between them and Arisaig. Our plan is to raise funds throughout this summer and conduct the necessary works once visitor numbers have reduced in the autumn.
So how can you get involved?
If you love Arisaig as much as we do then please donate as generously as you can to our campaign. Any amount will be very welcome. For a donation of at least £10 please feel free to use our community maintained village toilet as often as you like for a year and for £40 you can specify the name of someone close to you on one of the pavers for the new path. If you are eligible please make sure you select the Gift Aid option when making a donation as this significantly increases the value of your contribution.
ACT, run by volunteers, look after the operation of a number of local community spaces, including the public toilets, Land Sea & Islands Centre, playing field, community orchard & the shorefront. They are also currently in the middle of a rural housing project which aims to create much needed dwellings for local people searching for affordable accommodation.
