Aretians Rugby Football Club are at the heart of grass roots rugby in Little Stoke, Bristol; striving to make the game accessible and affordable to all with the aim of preserving the sport in the area long into the future.
To support this goal, we have secured permission to install new floodlights on our grounds which is great news and will help in safeguarding our most valuable asset, our pitches.
During the winter months we have needed to cancel training to allow time for our pitches to recover resulting in many of our groups having to miss training sessions to support their development. The introduction of new flood lights will allow us to rotate training and enable the pitches to recover.
ARFC are not immune to the impact that Covid-19 has presented. During what is traditionally our busiest time of the year, we have closed our club house doors to visitors, cancelled social functions, private hire of facilities, all planned fundraising events, age groups fixtures and training. Naturally this has significantly reduced our opportunity to raise funds and income to support development projects.
This fundraising appeal to Light up the field of dreams will ensure that ARFC are in a stronger position to return to community grass roots rugby, benefitting current players and those wishing to enjoy the game of rugby long into the future.
The total cost of the flood light project is £37,000 of which Aretians are able to fund a percentage of the amount required which is a fantastic, bringing the project to a reality.
We'd like to put it to our members, family, friends and others around us to join in and help us achieve our end goal.
We also recognise that currently times are tough but are hopeful that our members, supporters and friends of Aretians Rugby Football Club will shed a little light and contribute if able.
Aretians offer coaching and friendly fixtures, we promote adult rugby at all levels and field 3 current senior sides from all backgrounds and ability, who play in competitive league formats and socially. Rugby really is a game for all. We are looking to improve our facilities to include and promote all age groups from the age of 5 though to 18.
Aretians Rugby Club is also run by dedicated and committed volunteers who manage teams, coach, provide first aid, maintain grounds and organise events giving up their time to develop others and ensure that all players have a safe and fun environment in which to develop their Rugby skills.
