I left university in 2012. I’d spent 3 years reading Arts Management with dreams of organising the next Glastonbury and hanging out at the Brit awards or drinking Jack and coke with up and coming bands at record labels. Spoiler alert - that never happened.
But in January 2013, after hearing a lot of ‘but you just don’t have the experience’ I landed a job at a small IT distributor in Enfield. I’d never heard of the IT Channel, I had no idea how IT even worked let alone how it made its way into organisations across the country but in no time at all, I was learning it all. The place of distribution in the ecosystem, what each vendor did, the impact it would have on the customer and which resellers supported each in turn.
11 years later and I’ve made a career in marketing across the UK IT channel, working closely with vendors and then at one, with resellers and then for one and more recently at a managed service provider. However, as I am sure many of you have experienced, life does not always work out the way you had planned and recently, I suddenly found myself without work.
Sometimes things are removed from our path so we can more clearly identify a way forward.
And so, Arc was born.
Arc is a brand new marketing-as-a-service business that brings marketing on demand packages to start-ups, small and medium businesses at affordable monthly prices. After being the person liaising with agencies and hiring a marketing team, I only wish this service existed sooner.
The past 12 years working in marketing have taught me that it is often treated as the less favoured child in the family. It costs money up front, its results take longer to be recognised and it’s not always easy to measure. That being said, it is crucial to the success of organisations worldwide but doesn’t always have to come with hefty price tags. Arc has been designed to ensure that organisations can have access to the marketing support they deserve, exactly when they need it. If it’s helping to build a brand, run the day-to-day marketing basics, cover maternity leave, get you through a busy period or fill the place of an employee without the costly overheads, Arc plans have been designed to fit.
Arc specialises in supporting start-ups, small and medium businesses across the UK.
Pandemic born start-ups in the UK could add up tp £20.4bn to the UK’s economy after it’s been estimated that around 800,000 of them were registered with Companies House during 2020, increasing by 47% year on year. With these organisations in mind, Arc has been built based on a subscription model that makes it easier for small organisations to access experienced marketing and design support to empower them to take their organisations to the next level.
With your help, we can help support these Pandemic start-ups and ensure they grow into profitable organisations that serve to help grow the UK economy.
Over a decade after being told ‘I just don’t think you have enough experience’ I am now the proud Founder of Arc, a marketing-as-a-service agency, designed to support others going it alone, or wanting to stay ahead of the curve as they grow their business. Who would have thought?
If you have been a supporter of mine, a colleague, friend, a great leader, a terrible manager, a trusted supplier, loved one or a competitor forcing me to evolve - Thank You. Each of you have taught me an enormous amount about business, relationships and myself. All of this combined with over a decade of experience is what makes Arc special.
