Aim: To complete the set up of an archery range and base camp that is available for the veteran community close to Richmond and surrounding area.
The main objective is to support veterans and family members with mental health, or at risk of developing one, with particular focus on those who are struggling with transition from the armed forces or social isolation since leaving the military.
We provide creative spaces for specific needs, by evolving to meet the requirements of the service user. By incorporating mindfulness activities, and opportunities to tap into an unknown potential. The aftermath of COVID 19 is still very real within the veteran community. Limited health care combined with minimal personal interaction has created an isolated culture that needs to be addressed. Safe and inclusive places which encourage health, wellbeing and new opportunities are depleting but the need for outside activities that provide cohesion and purpose are needed more than ever.
In a world full of opportunities to be immersed in technology, staying indoors and communicating via a headset or computer screen; other avenues need to be available for families to do something together, outside as a collective team. For younger generations this leads to a better understanding of the world outside, the skills they could master with natural resources such as wood and stone, observing parents for adults using tools they didn't know existed. Ultimately, creating a safe space for everyone to be treated with a non judgemental approach and unlock hidden potential.
