Applecross Community Sauna

Aim: To achieve the aim of creating a Community Sauna space in Applecross

With the help of Dòchas community fund, and ongoing fundraising through Applecross Duathlon,and other events,  we have raised over £12000 towards the new Applecross Sauna.

Though fully mobile, the sauna will mainly be sited outside Applecross Sports and Welfare Association HQ - the former boat shed between the public carpark and old estate office.

The Sauna has been ordered from a Scottish company and we expect to receive it by the end of July.

The sauna will serve the local community and visitors to Applecross with an online booking system, and it is hoped that in the future we will be able to create some part-time employment. It will operate on a not-for-private-profit basis, with any proceeds being re-invested into community use sports and well-being projects.

Saunas can have positive impacts on physical and mental health, and be a great space to meet up with friends, especially during the long winter months, and we hope to be able to offer winter concessions to the local community.

Some recent price increases and the need to meet extra costs such as off -grid power, wood supply, wood store etc, have left us with an approximate £6000 shortfall, which we are seeking to raise through crowd-funding. With your help we can be up and running by early September!
