Help us find the truth about the tragic death of Julie Pearson

by DeborahPearson in Scotland

New stretch target

If we raise more than our target, the money will be used to cover potential legal costs that may be incurred during our quest to find the truth about Julie's death.

We are trying to find the truth about the tragic death of Julie Pearson, my niece, who died in Israel after she was attacked. The money raised will help cover our costs for a trip to Israel to speak to the police and authorities to establish what happened to her.

Julie was living and working in Israel when, we believe, she was attacked and beaten by an ex-boyfriend.

Witnesses in Eilat have given statements that Julie was badly beaten by an acquaintance a few days prior to her death and by an ex-partner the day before she died. It has also been alleged that she was raped. On November 27 2015, she was admitted to hospital where she died.

On arrival in Scotland, the funeral directors confirmed to us that the body was very badly bruised.

Since then, we have tried to get answers from the Eilat police on the circumstances surrounding Julie’s death. An autopsy has been carried out, but so far the results have not been made public nor have they been released to the family.

The police are currently investigating the death, but as yet, no information has been forthcoming on how the investigation is proceeding or their current lines of enquiry.

I'm Deborah Pearson, Julie's aunt and I'm travelling with Julie's cousin Sharon to Israel at the end of this month. I speak fluent Hebrew, so I hope that when I talk to the police and authorities I’ll understand more about what’s happening, and that they will take me seriously. I also plan to bring Julie’s personal belongings home to her mum and dad.

We'd like to raise £747, the money will cover:

Flights (Easyjet - London, Monarch - Eilat, Arkia - Tel Aviv) - £442

Accommodation (London and Eilat) - £255

Internal travel and expenses - £50

My MP Hannah Bardell and the MP for Julie’s constituency Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh have raised the issue in the House of Commons. Hannah asked the Prime Minister to intervene and offer any support he can.

It’s so important to Julie’s family, her parents John and Margaret, and Sharon and I that we get some answers and, if it turns out that she died at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, then we want justice for Julie.

Please donate to our campaign if you can, and please share it across Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media channels you use.

Thank you for your support, we are very grateful.
