Lifesaving care for transgender people - can you help?

Trans+ and non-binary people face extraordinary challenges when accessing gender-affirming healthcare. We are seeing direct attacks on trans-inclusive care for young people, and NHS services are failing trans people of ALL ages. The lack of timely, safe, and affordable options leaves many without the help they urgently need.

Access to timely, compassionate and medically appropriate care is something that everyone needs for all aspects of their lives. Transgender people are no exception; however, their needs are often ignored and, in many cases, deliberately undermined or refused.

That’s where you come in. By supporting this campaign, you’ll help make essential, gender-affirming healthcare accessible to those who need it most.

Why your support matters

Access to gender-affirming care is life-changing. It provides relief, affirmation, and the ability to live authentically. Unfortunately, many trans and non-binary people are left to navigate impossible barriers:

• Years-long NHS waitlists
• GPs reluctant to support shared care with NHS or private providers
• GPs withdrawing care after, in some cases, years of HRT prescribing
• Paid for private care, which for some is out of reach
• People forced into self-medicating without proper oversight

We created Anne Health after supporting our family members in accessing private gender-affirming care, having experienced the failures of NHS systems. Anne Health is the service we wished they’d been able to access, providing the care and attention our loved ones deserved. Following international best practice, we established Anne Health as a not-for-profit gender-affirming healthcare service in 2024.

Together, we have vast experience in navigating this space, having worked in the LGBTQ+ third sector for over 30 years, and as part of our remit as a not-for-profit, we are committed to helping those most in need who cannot afford private healthcare. We want to help as many transgender people as we can access the essential, gender-affirming care they deserve, just like we did for our own loved ones.

Step 1 was to set up Anne Health's paid services, and now we are ready to focus on Step 2 of our funded pathway for those who cannot afford private healthcare.

This campaign is to raise funds for life-saving care for transgender people who cannot afford private services

Every contribution will fund Anne Health Standard Membership services. 

This fund is separate from our paid-for services and is part of our not-for-profit commitment to those who cannot afford private healthcare.

Medication and travel costs are not included.

• Comprehensive healthcare overseen by qualified, affirming professionals.
• Evidence based and effective support for people who would otherwise have nowhere to turn.
• A chance for individuals to thrive without fear or uncertainty about their healthcare.

We will shortly be publishing an FAQ section for the campaign on our website, including information about the application process and more.

Our mission

Every trans person who needs it should be able to access gender-affirming healthcare at no cost through our NHS service. However, that is not happening, and we are currently seeing a wholesale rollback of access to care. Until better care is available for free on the NHS, we will do our best to support as many people as possible, not just those who can afford private healthcare. 

We should not have to exist. We look forward to a time when we are no longer needed.
